ACCESS provides services in our community to low-income families, senior citizens and other individuals in need of assistance. As the Community Action agency for Jackson County, ACCESS works closely with all other social service organizations in our community. The wide array of programs include nutrition programs, housing development and other assistance with housing needs, family counseling, energy assistance and energy conservation, Junior Achievement and other education programs, services to senior citizens, and a free medical equipment loan program.

The Nutrition Department - Offers several nutrition programs that enable hungry people in Jackson County to obtain food supplies for themselves and their families. Each year, our nutrition programs provide food for agencies that prepare on-site meals and aid needy families with more than 37,000 emergency food boxes.

Under the general direction of the Department Director, this position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of nutrition program employees and programs in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to training, monitoring, and evaluating staff; preparing and analyzing reports; coordinating and implementing new and current programs within the nutrition department; and assisting the Department Director in soliciting, procuring, and cultivating new food donors and other resources for the ACCESS Nutrition Programs.

This Position Requires:

  • A minimum of 1 year supervisory experience
  • 2 years of experience in a social services environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to multitask in a variety of areas
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers and co-workers, sustain client and intradepartmental confidentiality
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office products and web based applications
  • Ability to set-up and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Volunteer management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Program development, oversight and reporting.
  • Experience in solicitation, public speaking, and conducting presentations
  • Previous use of a forklift, pallet jack, and 18ft truck
  • A degree or certification in social services.
